What: Generate Capital is a holding company with over $2.7bn in sustainable infrastructure assets. Their four priority sectors are Power (solar, storage and efficiency), Waste & Water (food waste, biomass, and wastewater), Transport (electric bus and forklift fleets), and Sustainable Cities (data centers, etc.). All investments are on their balance sheet, and they generate revenue through a proprietary “Infrastructure as a Service” approach.

Who: The main beneficiary is the environment, with all sectors that Generate operates in contributing to the fight against climate change and pollution.

How Much Impact: Generate has not yet published a comprehensive impact report.

Our Contribution: We participated in the 2021 raise, among many other investors, so our contribution is minimal.

Impact Risk: Generate is a financially-driven company with a mission to opportunistically exploit the current fossil fuels and resource crisis to invest in cleaner energy infrastructure and technologies. Therefore, the main risk is the lack of impact focus and reportable metrics - which is mitigated by the fact that by default all of Generate’s areas of operation directly benefit the environment.
